Novel Study

It has been weeks since Mr. Penguin's last adventure and he's been stuck at his desk, twiddling his flippers ever since. That is until the phone rings!

Mr. Penguin and Colin (a spider and Mr. Penguin's silent right hand man) are called in to find the missing treasure somewhere in the Museum of Extraordinary Objects. The quest finds them solving secret codes, fighting ferocious beasts, eating fish finger sandwiches and travelling deep below the museum to a lost jungle...

Mathematics

The White Rose Education units the children will be learning this half term are:

Mass and Capacity
Fractions B
Money
Time

Topic - History

Mevagissey - A Harbour To Call Home

In this topic, children will dive into the history of their own village. What was life like for the original fishermen of Mevagissey, how does this compare to the fishermen that work in the village now?

What changes have happened to the harbour and why? Children will meet and talk to a local fisherman, the harbour master and visit the local museum to see the historical journey that Mevagissey village and harbour has been on.

Science

Our learning focus this half term is Light.

Children will recognise that they need light in order to see things and that dark is the absence of light. They will notice that light is reflected from surfaces and that light from the sun can be dangerous and there are ways to protect their eyes.

They will recognise that shadows are formed when the light from a light source is blocked by an opaque object. Children will find patterns in the way that the size of shadows change.
Padlet

The children in Lobster Year 3 love to read and talk about the books they have read.  Below is the link to the 'Mevagissey's Marvellous Padlet' where the children can also add their comments about their favourite books.
